The November 2016 General meeting was held at the Highland County Senior Citizen's Center from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Monday, November 7th.
The meeting was opened by President Bob Hottle, the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of God Bless America led by Vice-President Jim Faust, and prayer led by Glen Armstrong.
Following the meal, the business meeting included approval of August meeting minutes as read by Nona VanDenBerg and approval of the Treasurer's report by Doris Pulse. Other reports included scholarship recipients as reported by Mary Black, community service projects as reported by Daryl Uhrig, the historical society Christmas Tree and Union School historical plaque as reported by Pamela Nickell, and a neurology report by Cindy Eigel. Encouragement for the continued invitation of new members was offered by Jim Faust as well as solicitation for program topic suggestions.
Officers for 2017 were elected as follows: President, Bob Hottle; Vice-president, Jim Faust; Treasurer, Doris Pulse, and Secretary, Pamela Nickell. At the conclusion of the business meeting, members attended to a well informed and clearly articulate presentation by Tamela Cole, STRS representative, who spoke about health care options, and the factors possibly impacting future health care and pension benefits.
