The Highland County Retired Teachers Association is a service organization affiliated with the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. We are made up of teachers and administrators retired from public schools, as well as state and municipal colleges and universities.
We meet 4 times per year. Meetings typically last 2 hours and consist of a social time to reconnect with old colleagues as well as an opportunity to meet new acquaintances; a time of entertainment (usually featuring local talent such as school choirs and musical groups); a business meeting to discuss old and new business of the organization, and an informational program highlighting topics of interest to former educators and retirees.
Our organization encourages social altruism through sponsorship of educational programming, awarding of scholarships, charitable giving and donations, and volunteerism. Recent philanthropic activities have included awarding of annual college scholarships, and support through donations and volunteerism to local organizations such as Samaritan Outreach Services, the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center, the Highland County Homeless Shelter, and the Highland County Humane Society, as well as many local schools and churches.
