On Friday, October 5, 2018 HCRTA Officers and Executives Bob Hottle, Doris Pulse, Mary Black, and Kevin Black attended the ORTA Southwest Region President's/Officers Meeting at the Montgomery County ESC in Dayton Ohio. ORTA Executive Director Dr. Robin Redfield presided over the meeting, with the assistance of Bee Lehner, ORTA President, Gale Adkins, ORTA President Elect, and Alyssa Burton, ORTA Publications and Communications Director. The meeting was attended by Regional Liaisons and officers or members representing most of the 17 County ORTA Chapters in the South West Region.
The topics discussed included details about the recent reorganization of the ORTA Regions, its rationale and the strategic planning that led to the reorganization; services available to local chapters through the stat organization, including roster and database support, mailing assistance, dues collection and reminder assistance, membership handbooks, and AMBA membership; ORTA website and communications; and an interesting insight into ORTA's efforts to encourage STRS to map a path to COLA restoration for Ohio STRS Retirees. In addition to the ORTA presentations,, AMBA Benefits Representative Bonnie NorrisIn highlighted some of the benefits available to every ORTA member through ORTA's partnership with AMBA.

Our service project for May will be to honor our Highland County Mothers by contributions to the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center's Moses Basket Project. Moses Basket is a program where every new mother receives a basket of items needed for newborns. Items needed include newborn diapers, swaddling blankets, outlet plugs, crib sheets, baby towels, baby lotion, baby wash and blanket sleepers. People can bring these items or give money as usual. All donated money will be used for the purchase of these items.
Our May business meeting will include sharing ideas concerning the future meeting programs, service projects, and meeting venues.
