As a child Jim Faust grew up on a hog and dairy farm, attended Lynchburg Clay (Class of '66) and received his B.S. and M.S. Degrees from Ohio State University.
He began teaching Agricultural Education at Peebles H.S. in 1970 and remained there for 21 years before returning to his alma mater for another 10 years. He returned to the classroom as a US History and Environmental Science teacher for 8 more years.
He lives with his wife Karen on the home farm near Pricetown. Their two sons are both full time teachers.
In retirement, he does some substitute teaching, and raises cattle, soybeans, wheat, hay and meat rabbits.
Over the years Jim has served in leadership roles with a wide variety of organizations both locally and at the state level. The diverse groups include the Lynchburg Area Joint Fire and Ambulance District, Pricetown Church of Christ, Lions, 4-H, Farm Bureau, County Fair, Extension, FFAr and Southern State C.C.. As an Agriculture Education teacher, Jim served as a State or District officer for at least 25 years. He has received numerous awards for his excellence in teaching and his community service. Notable are the Ohio Ag. Ed. Teacher of the Year, National Region IV Young Ag. Ed. Teacher of the Year, Ohio Vocational Assoc. Educator of the Year and Ohio Young Farmers Assoc. Advisor of the Year. He has been selected as one of six professional educators to receive the National Achievement Award.
